The Department of Communication, Yogyakarta State University, launched seven books on the world of communication and information written by lecturers and students of this study program on Saturday (2/10). The launch of this book also marks the seven-year journey of the UNY Communication Studies Program since established in 2014. The seven books are:

• Communication Today, Contribution of Communication Science as a Post Discipline; discusses the development of the increasingly complex field of communication science in the digital era.
• Book Chapter of New Media and the Covid-19 Pandemic; a collaborative book by UNY Communication Science students that discusses the development of new media during the Covid-19 pandemic.
• Digitally Capable Youth; A Guide to Becoming a Smart Generation Z with Digital Media. A digital literacy handbook aimed at teenagers.
• Social media, self-representation, and second accounts. A descriptive study of second accounts on Twitter and Instagram. This book is the result of an investigation by the Communication Sciences Laboratory of UNY related to the use of social media in Indonesia.
• If I Was a Journalist; the 2018 student essay book, discusses the phenomenon of journalism from the student's point of view.
• Creativity; Communication Science Student Creativity which is a catalog of the works of Communication Science students at UNY
• Photo Story: Forgotten Hero. A compilation of photography works by UNY Communication Science students.

Deputy Dean II of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Yogyakarta State University as well as a lecturer in the Communication Studies Study Program, Prof. Suranto said that the books published by the Communication Studies Program at UNY are monumental works that mark the relatively new journey of the study program at UNY. The seven books represent the seven years of the journey that have passed.

"Of course, I hope that this book will also serve as a trigger and motivation for UNY's lecturers and students of the Communication Sciences Study Program to continue to work and contribute to the nation. Hopefully, in the future, this study program can continue to grow and produce more works that are beneficial to the community," he explained. Coordinator of publication of UNY Communication Studies Study Program, Benni Setiawan, said that this book project results from the collaboration between the academic community of the UNY Communication Studies Study Program. These seven books involve lecturers and students from various generations and contribute from UNY Communication Studies to the community.

"This book is a form of our responsibility as an academic institution to make a real contribution to society. Therefore, all of these books will be available for free download on the website. http://ilkom.fis.uny.ac.id/," he said.

The head of Pratiwi's Communication Studies Program, Wahyu Widiarti, said that the development of communication science in Indonesia was considerable. It can not separate from the development of communication and information technology that is so massive. This rapid development also impacts the great interest of communication science students, especially at Yogyakarta State University.

"From year to year, the number of enthusiasts in the Communication Study Program of UNY continues to increase quite drastically. This year we opened four classes for the new batch due to the enormous enthusiasm of the registrants," he said.

Furthermore, Tiwi hopes that in the future, the Communication Studies program of UNY can contribute more to society, the nation, and the state, especially in developing studies in the field of Communication Studies.
